GoodReads

As a person reads more and more books, it can become a hassle to keep track of everything. Many people have lists of books they’ve read, books they plan on reading, and even books to order upon their eventual release. Lists are easy to misplace and they damage or fade over time.

GoodReads.com is a great website for managing your books. Just search for your books then add them to a ’shelf.’ Shelves are the equivalent of a reading list. The basic shelves are Read, To Read, and Currently Reading. You can also create personal shelves for anything your heart desires, such as genre or author.

You can also add friends (and even authors!) to see what they’ve read, post personal book reviews, and test your knowledge in the Never-ending Book Quiz!

If you like the idea but want to consider other options, LibraryThing may be for you. For a bit of comparision between the two, SpudArt has an article for you.

Goodbye VHS!

After more than 30 years of entertainment, VHS tapes are coming to an end. According to the LA Times, the last major supplier shipped their final truckload back in October.

Gone are the days of broken hinge flaps and watching movies that gain a little static with each use.

Many people have already made the switch to DVD. But with Blu-ray discs coming around, it’s hard to know if or when it will overtake DVDs.

Goodbye VHS! It’s been fun and I’m sorry for cheating on you with DVD!
